When the 54th East Surrey Wimbledon Battalion of the Home Guard stood down in December 1944, they formed a social club in the Drill Hall, Wimbledon, naming themselves '54th East Surrey Wimbledon Battalion Old Comrades Association'. In 1946 they moved to their current residence in Haddon Hall, Wimbledon.

In 1954 a group of members formed the club's cricket team, initially playing on Wandsworth Common. In the early 1960's they moved to Beverley Park, New Malden before moving on to the much improved ground of the Civil Service Ground at Raynes Park. The late 1990's saw the abolition of the Civil Service Ground and so the 54th O.C.A. Cricket Club moved to the P & O Ground of the Maori in Worcester Park. Finally the club secured the Wandgas Sports Ground in Worcester Park for the 2001 Season.

The playing squad has been built from 1954 by associations with the mother club and word of mouth. Most recently the club has gained members from the disbanded Thamesfield Cricket Club.
